Elkhorn City, Kentucky

Elkhorn City, Kentucky is a small town located in Pike County near the Virginia state line. Elkhorn City was founded around 1810 at the confluence of Elkhorn Creek and Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River. Through the years the town was known as Elkhorn, Praise, and finally Elkhorn City. Located near the entrance of Breaks Interstate Park, the town boasts a 9-hole miniature golf course, a city park, the Elkhorn City Railroad Museum, three city pools, and a beach area with a riverwalk. The Russell Fork of the Big Sandy is the scene of whitewater rafting adventures, and Jefferson National Forest provides miles of scenic trails. A unique destination for tourists, many people find Elkhorn City a great place to rear a family or to retire.
